Santoor instrument is a trapezoidal hollow box. There are bridges on left and right part of santoor. These bridges are not fixed and its position can be changed. The bridges are placed in such a way that they don’t overlap the internal supports.

Pt. Shivkumar Sharma modified its structure a bit in such a way that the musical range of the instrument was increased to 2.5 octaves.
