The Sarod is a nineteenth-century modification of the Central Asian Rabab. It has no frets. Sarod players nail’s need to be tough and hard . The player glides nails over the metal fret board to play it.

Sarod have metal wires : four principal melody strings, two or more drone strings. A Sarod package comes with a set of extra strings, Coconut plectrum and rosins.
